Reclaim Your Focus: A Simple Ritual For Work From Home Moms
Work From Home Mom Productivity Hack That You Probably Haven’t Heard of.
Work from Home Moms, Does This Sound Familiar?
You’re about to sit down to work. You’ve let your kids know this. You’ve asked if they need anything. They’re fed. They have activities to do. They should be all set.
But of course, right when you’re about to start, the questions begin. They’ve finished their food in record time and want another snack. They get into a fight, and you need to mediate.
You finally get back to your office (or wherever you’re working that day) and your energy feels scattered. Your mind feels blocked, making it hard to focus or gain clarity.
You start feeling down because it’s so hard to stick to a schedule. It’s challenging with such a busy life to take the time needed to do what you need to do.
And it’s not just once in a while. This is every day.
Every. Day.
So, you’re already starting your work with less focus and more frustration and you see it eating into your productivity.
You know this cycle needs to end.
What can you do?
Create a Mini Ritual to Transition into Your Work Space
You have to be willing to take the time to do this.
Let go.
I know it was annoying. Maybe you got frustrated.
Truth is, you have a decision to make. You can take this time to give your kids and yourself grace. Or, you can hold onto it and let it seep into your work.
Here are some things my clients have had success with. Try these out. Mix and match. Choose what works for you.
Set an Intention - What are you in your work space to do? Write it down. Talk it out with yourself. What tasks do you want to focus on now. How do you want to feel as you do it?
Give Your Body a Little Shake - Really. Just shake out your body. Or dance to a song. Get that body moving and release stagnant energy!
Take Deep Breaths for a Few Minutes - It seems counterintuitive. You don’t want to slow down; you want to get going and complete the next task. I get it. But this actually helps you gain the focus and clarity you crave.
Do a 5-Minute Meditation - For the same reason as the deep breathing. Focus and clarity. Bringing your awareness to the present moment to focus on the task at hand.
If you want peace and more structure in your work-from-home life, this is one way to begin creating it.
